Canesten Pessary Clotrimazole 500mg is a soft capsule that treats thrush symptoms in a single dose. It contains the active ingredient Clotrimazole.
Canesten Soft Gel Pessary gives you effective treatment for thrush yeast infections. It works right at the site of infection and provides treatment in a single dose.
It is not recommended for use for children under 16.
Canesten Provides a Symptomatic Treatment
Canesten pessaries are teardrop-shaped soft capsules that can be inserted at night.
It contains the active ingredient Clotrimazole which promotes balanced pH and healthy bacteria and treats any signs of fungal infection and itching.
What Causes Thrush?
Thrush is caused when there is disruption in the balance between bacteria and yeasts which naturally live within the vagina. This leads to symptoms like vaginal itching, burning sensations, and a thick discharge.
It can be caused by a variety of factors like:
- Medicines and antibiotics
- The trauma of sexual activity
- Tampons
- Stress
- Perfumed soap, shower gels, or bubble baths
- Menstruation
- Wearing tight clothing
- Pregnancy
Preventing thrush with Canesten Pessary Clotrimazole
Canesten Combi Pessary & Cream can be used to prevent the growth of fungus and reduce itchy, burning sensations. To prevent thrush from recurring:
- Avoid tight, synthetic clothing
- Avoid perfumed soaps, gels, bubble baths, vaginal deodorants and douches
- Change tampons or pads regularly when on your period
Usage/Instructions
- Canesten Soft Gel Pessaries should be inserted at night. Using the applicator provided, the soft gel pessary should be inserted as high as possible into the vagina.
- This is easiest when lying back with legs bent up.
- A second treatment may be carried out if necessary.
Warnings
- Canesten Soft Gel Pessaries should not be used during your period. This may cause the pessary to wash out during the menstrual flow.
- The treatment should be finished before the start of your period.
- Do not use tampons, intravaginal douches, spermicides, or other vaginal products while using Canesten pessaries.
- Vaginal intercourse should be avoided to prevent vaginal infection from spreading.
- This product should not be used for children under 16 years.
